About Us
1946
Medical Center Trading Corporation (MCTC) began as a modest provider of pharmaceuticals and basic surgical implements to the country's medical and healthcare industries. Rodolfo Landahl, a Filipino of German ancestry, established it in 1946 under the name Medical Center Drug Corporation.
1970
In a few years, the firm was sold to Metro Drug Corp. and thereafter, in April 1970, was acquired by Mercury Drug Corporation. The Mercury Group of Companies, Inc. was then established in 1972 during the time when Medical Center Drug Corp. and Mercury Drug both became subsidiaries. The two companies operated independently of each other, focusing their individual resources to their own customer base.
1980
Medical Center Drug Corporation officially changed its name to Medical Center Trading Corporation (MCTC) on July 1, 1980. The intention was to underscore the difference in its business scope from that of Mercury Drug. It further paved the way for a more aggressive effort by MCTC to determine the unique needs of its own growing market. In less than five years, MCTC became a leader in the importation, distribution, and marketing of hospital, medical, dental, surgical and laboratory equipment and supplies. Also, the BMD (Brand Management Department) group is formed to address the growing needs of the industry and product research and development. A Product Manager heads each Division.
PRESENT
Today, MCTC has numerous branches in Metro Manila, Cebu City, Davao City, Iloilo City, Lipa City, San Fernando City, Pampanga, and Urdaneta City in Pangasinan. A scheme for expanding to all 13 regions of the country is soon to be implemented to service hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
MCTC remains to be a subsidiary of the Mercury Group of Companies, Inc.

THE BRAND MANAGEMENT DIVISION
MCTC formed a marketing arm composed of Product Managers, each specializing in his/her own product line. This group is tasked to source, explore and research of various medical, hospital, surgical, dental, and laboratory products that are available in the market worldwide. After an extensive evaluation, analysis and proper documentation from the different government agencies, the products are then channeled for local distribution through a well funded campaign of advertisement.
